Add Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. An add region is a type of OMR region that adds together all of the values for the different responses that the respondents chose to produce one value.
Admin Script URL Products: Remark Web Survey. This is the URL, or path, to the Remark Web Survey Administration Script and is necessary for any web form administration, such as editing the web form.
Alternate Text Products: Remark Web Survey. Alternate text is displayed while a picture or video is loading. It is also refered to as standby text.
Analysis Group Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. An analysis group is a group of respondents that are placed together based on some commonality. Analysis groups are established in the Survey Wizard and are seen in select reports found through Survey Wizard or Easy Survey.
Analysis Group Report Products: Remark Classic OMR, Remark Office OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays the average answer amongst respondents for each question within analysis groups. This report is only found in Easy Survey or Survey Wizard when analysis groups have been turned on.
Answer Key Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The answer key is the completed form that subsequent completed forms will be compared to. The default setting is that the answer key is in the first line in the OMR Data Center. However, this setting can be changed in the grade wizard. Answer Piping Products: Remark Web Survey. Answer piping takes a respondent's answer from one question and inserts it into a separate label or question that appears on a subsequent page of the web form. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is Answer Piping and how is it used in Remark Web Survey?"
Application Button Products: Remark Web Survey. The Application Button is the globe icon located in the upper left hand corner of the Remark Web Survey Window. It is comparable to the File button found in many other programs and provides access to basic software functions such as save and open.
Back Button Products: Remark Web Survey. A back button allows the respondent to navigate to the previous page in order to change an answer without having to leave the survey.
Barcode Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A barcode region is used to read a barcode that has been placed on the template. The barcode is translated when the data is read by the software and placed in the spreadsheet. In Remark Office OMR, when the region is placed on the template, the selected area turns orange.
Barcode Type Products: Remark Office OMR. Barcode Type is an option in the barcode region properties window. It allows for the selection of one of several types of barcode. The most common type of barcode is the Code 39 barcode, which contains alphanumeric information. Basic Item Analysis Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This item analysis report displays the frequency with which each answer was selected for each question. This report is only found through Easy Survey or Survey Wizard.
Batch Header Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A batch header is a template that is scanned in before the main forms that the respondents have completed. The information that was read in through the batch header will then be the first pieces of information for every row of respondent data in the Remark Data Center. Both the batch header and any other pages being scanned in must contain Page IDs. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How do I use the Batch Header feature?"
Batch Wizard Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The batch wizard walks the user through all of the necessary steps that must be completed when setting up batch headers.
Benchmark Value Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Benchmark values are the target scores that are desired for the respondents to achieve. They can be set up in the grade wizard and applied to both the overall test and individual learning objectives. Binary Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A binary region is a type of OMR region that allows the software to detect if a bubble has been filled in and places the data in one collumn. Unlike with the boolean region, binary regions do not allow for personalized responses; a filled in bubble results in a 1, while an empty bubble results in a 0.
Boolean Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A boolean region is a type of OMR region that allows the software to detect if a bubble has been filled in and places the data in separate collumns. This also allows for personalized responses, often a yes or 1 for a filled in bubble and a no or 0 for a bubble that was not filled in.
Branching Products: Remark Web Survey. Branching allows for the respondent's answer to a specific question to dictate which page they will advance to. The default for this setting is that the respondent will advance to the next page as seen in the tree view. Branching Criteria Builder Products: Remark Web Survey. This window allows the user to change which page the respondent advances to when they click the next/submit butoon. This is also where conditional branching can be set up.
Branching Visualizer Products: Remark Web Survey. The Branching Visualizer displays all of the branch patterns on the form and the possible paths respondents can take.
Browser Preview Products: Remark Web Survey. The browser preview allows the user to view how the web form will look when a respondent accesses the web form via the Internet.
Checkbox Question Type Products: Remark Web Survey. Checkbox questions provide respondents with multiple answer options. The respondent is then able to select as many of the responses as desired.
Class Frequency Distribution Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is an item analysis report that presents a visual and numerical representation of the distribution of scores achieved by the respondents. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard.
Class Learning Objectives Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays the combined average score of the respondents for each learning objective. This report is only found in Easy Grade or Grade Wizard when learning objectives have been turned on.
Collate Mode Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. This allows for two sided forms to be read by the software, even if the scanner only scans one side at a time. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Why isn't the Collate option enabled in the Read Wizard?"
Column Gap Products: Remark Classic OMR. The column gap adjusts the spacing between the verticle columns of bubbles on the template. A larger number corresponds to a larger space, while a negative number indicates that the bubbles go in reverse.
Columns Products: Remark Web Survey, Remark Classic OMR. The column number identifies where the selected object or region will be placed on the form. For Remark Classic OMR users, see also "Start Column" in this Glossary.
Comparative Grade Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that allows for a comparison of the data based on up to three identifying categories and displays the overall average score of the respondents. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard.
Comparative Item Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This item analysis report shows how many repondants selected each answer, based on a common answer to another question. This report is only found in Easy Survey or Survey Wizard.
Condensed Item Analysis Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition This is a type of item analysis report that identifies the number of respondents that chose each answer for each question (frequencies). When accessed through either Easy Grade or Grade Wizard, this report also highlights the correct and incorrect responses. This report is found through the Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey and Survey Wizard options, as well as when clicking Run Reports in Remark Test Grading Edition.
Condensed Test Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition. This is a type of item analysis report that displays information for every question, including the percentage of the respondents that chose each answer, in addition to other statistics regarding the entire test. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard, as well as when clicking Run Reports in Remark Test Grading Edition.
Confirmation Page Products: Remark Web Survey. The confirmation page is a type of special page displayed at the end of the survey or exam. It allows the respondent to review all their answers before submitting them. Respondents are able to change their answers by clicking on the question to return to that page. Control Panel Products: Remark Web Survey. The control panel allows the user to view information regarding the published web form such as data collected and the web form's log, which displays information regarding which respondents have signed into the web form and how many pages they have submitted. This web page is accessable through the Remark Web Server application or by entering the admin url into any Internet browser.
Crosstabulation Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that allows for two questions to be compared to each other, illustrating the percentage of respondents who selected similar responses across two questions. Multiple tables can be created, but each table can only compare two questions. This report can be found through the Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey and Survey Wizard options.
Data Center Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The Data Center is where the data, or completed tests and surveys, are processed. The data is viewed in a spreadsheet and can be edited to correct any data exceptions.
Data Exceptions Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Test Grading Edition. Data exceptions are problem areas that appear when the data is read into the program. Remark recognizes when there is an exception and flags it for further attention. These exceptions include: multiple responses to a single question when only one answer is allowed; blank questions; and recognition errors, meaning that the software is unable to read the response. Data exceptions are able to be viewed and corrected in the OMR Data Center. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How do I use Review Exceptions to clean or validate my data?"
Data Script URL Products: Remark Web Survey. This URL, or path, is necessary for data collection.
Data Type Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Data type is an option listed in the region properties window for all types of regions, or questions for Remark Web Survey. There are two options to select from: textual and numerical. Numerical is used if the data being collected in the selected region only consists of numbers. Textual is used if one or more of the options in a OMR region are non-numerical, or if the data being collected by a barcode, OCR or image region is non-numerical.
Data Viewer Products: Remark Web Survey. The data viewer is the screen where all the data collected from the selected survey is displayed. From this view, it is then possible to open Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey or Survey Wizard.
Database Connections Products: Remark Web Survey. This icon checks that the database connection established through database link is still correct and that the software is looking in the correct place for this information.
Database Link Products: Remark Web Survey. This allows Remark Web Survey to pull additional information not requested in the form from a separate document, based on the respondent's answer to an identifying question. In Remark Classic OMR and Remark Office OMR, this is called Database Lookup. See also "Database Lookup" in this Glossary.
Database Lookup Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. This allows Remark Office OMR or Remark Classic OMR to pull additional information not requested in the form from a separate document, based on the respondent's answer to an identifying question. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "My template has an ID region as a respondent identifier. How can I add related data in a database to my dataset?"
Delimited Barcode Products: Remark Office OMR. A delimited barcode is a barcode that contains multiple pieces of data. The separate pieces of data are separated by a specific character, including a comma, tab, space, tilde, carriage return, line feed or carriage return/line feed. Demographic Grade Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that allows for a comparison of the data based on up to three identifying categories. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard.
Detailed Item Analysis Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report which shows, both visually and numerically, the percentage of respondents that selected each answer for each question. This report is found through Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey or Survey Wizard.
Drop-Down Box Question Type Products: Remark Web Survey. Drop-down boxes allow the respondent to view all possible responses and select either one answer or multiple answers. The default setting is to only allow one answer, but this can be easily changed in the question properties window.
Duplex Products: Remark Classic OMR, Remark Office OMR. A duplex form is a form that has information on both sides of the page.
Easy Grade Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Easy grade uses the first line of data as the answer key, along with other default settings, to quickly open the Quick Stats window. This is used if the completed forms are going to be graded in comparison to an answer key.
Easy Survey Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Easy survey uses default settings and promptly opens the quick stats window. This is used if the information from the completed forms is being collected, but not graded.
Element Products: Remark Web Survey. An element is an item that is added to the web form, such as an image, question, label or line.
Export Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition. Exporting a data set allows for the data to later be opened in another program, such as Excel.
Field Name Products: Remark Web Survey. The field name is a shortened version of the question text that can be displayed in place of the question text. Field name is comparable to question name in Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR.
Filter Products: Remark Web Survey, Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. Filters can be applied to a data set in order to examine the data more closely. A filter allows for selective analysis by including or excluding respondents based upon their answers to particular questions. Form ID Products: Remark Office OMR. A form ID is an OMR, OCR or Barcode region placed on each page of the completed form that tells Remark Office OMR which template the form corresponds to. Having form IDs allows for multiple forms to be processed at the same time. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How do I create forms to use with Form IDs?"
Form Template Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A form template contains the information needed to instruct Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR about each form. The form template conveys the location of the information on the pages (e.g., the bubbles the respondents darken) and the specifics of the data you require. The form template defines the backend database you use for storage of the processed data. You create a form template for each form that you wish to process using the software.
Form Template Creation Wizard Products: Remark Classic OMR. This is the window that opens when creating a new template. It allows for changes to be made to the general settings of the template, before regions are added. In Remark Office OMR, this window is called the Form Template Properties window.
Form Template Properties Window Products: Remark Office OMR. This is the window that opens when creating a new template. It allows for changes to be made to the general settings of the template, before regions are added. In Remark Classic OMR, this window is called the Form Template Creation Wizard.
Grade Wizard Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The grade wizard is a window that opens up before the Quick Stats window, providing the option to change various properties before performing data analyses. These properties include identifying the answer key, identifying learning objectives and setting benchmark values. This is used if the completed forms are going to be graded in comparison to an answer key.
Graph Viewer Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The graph viewer is a window that is found at the bottom of the data center. As data is being read into the program, the graph viewer will display the number of respondents that selected each answer for the selected question. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is the Graph Viewer and how is it used?"
Grid Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A grid region is a type of OMR region that allows a respondent to fill in bubbles pertaining to different numbers in an ID number or date. This allows the software to automatically read in the information, creating less of a need for manual data entry.
Horizontal Line Products: Remark Web Survey. A horizontal line can be placed in the template and is useful when attempting to separate different sections of a survey or test that are on the same page.
HTML Display Products: Remark Web Survey. The HTML display is what respondents see when they view the web form, comparable to the question text in Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR.
HTML Preview Products: Remark Web Survey. This is the section of the screen where the user can view the web form as the respondents will see it.
Image Region Prooducts: Remark Office OMR. Image regions capture areas where respondents are expected to write their own responses and can save a picture of the region as a separate image file. Although Remark Office OMR can recognize when handwriting is present in the region, it cannot interpret what the respondent has written. When an image region is placed on the template, the selected area turns blue.
Image Viewer Products: Remark Office OMR. The image viewer is a window that is found at the bottom of the data center. Once data has been read into the program and a response has been selected, the image viewer will display the area of the completed form where this question and response can be found.
Input Pattern Products: Remark Web Survey. This area in the question properties window allows the user to specify a format for respondents to follow when inputting an answer in a textbox. If this format is not followed, an error message will appear informing the respondent of their mistake. The input pattern is entered using a combination of 0 (zero), A or X. The number 0 represents any numeric character. The letter A represents any alpha character. The letter X represents any alphanumeric character.
Input Region Products: Remark Classic OMR. An input region reserves space in the data grid for the user to manually enter handwritten information that respondents wrote on their completed forms.
Invitations Products: Remark Web Survey. Invitations are used to inform potential respondents through e-mail that the survey or exam is available to be completed and ask that they do so. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Can I embed a survey into an email message?"
Item Analysis Graph Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays the percentage of respondents which selected each answer for each question. This report is found through the Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey and Survey Wizard options.
Item Analysis Reports Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Item analysis reports are all the different ways in which the data can be presented in the Quick Stats window. There are a variety of different display reports available to view. See also each report's entry in this Glossary.
Item Statistics Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This item analysis report displays various statistical information for each question. This report is only found through Easy Survey or Survey Wizard.
Label Products: Remark Web Survey, Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. In Remark Web Survey, a label is any writing that is placed on the template form. Alternately, in Remark Web Survey, Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR, in terms of possible question responses, the label is the response choice that appears in the data file, comparable to the question name in Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR. Learning Objectives Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. A learning objective is a subset of questions that pertain to a particular topic. They can be set up in the grade wizard. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Can I apply learning objectives or learning standards when I grade tests?"
Linked Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A linked region consists of two or more OMR regions that are separated by non-bubble characters, such as labels, but both regions of bubbles pertain to the same question. The two regions do not need to have the same number of bubbles. In Remark Office OMR, these regions appear either darker than regular OMR regions or have a dotted line border, depending on the version of Remark Office OMR that is in use, indicating that they are linked.
List Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A list region is a type of OMR region that is used when the answers to a multiple choice style question are not all in the same row or collumn.
Login Page Products: Remark Web Survey. The login page is a type of special page that prompts the respondent to enter a password in order to be able to access and complete the form.
Mobile Device Preview Products: Remark Web Survey. The mobile device preview presents an opportunity to see how the web form will look when seen on a mobile device such as an Apple iPhone or RIM Blackberry device. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Mobile Device Preview"
Multiple Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A multiple region is a type of OMR region that identifies the region on the template where respondents answer a multiple choice style question.
NA Label Products: Remark Office OMR. Applying the NA (Not Applicable) label to a specific answer choice for an OMR question or group of OMR questions allows the respondents that selected this answer on their completed form to not be included in the data analysis reports. Navigation Button Products: Remark Web Survey. A navigation button, also simply called a button, allows the respondent to move through the survey or exam. There are four types of buttons: submit/next, reset, back and session pause.
OCR Region Products: Remark Office OMR. An OCR (Optical Character Recognition) region reads computer-generated text and records the text in the spreadsheet in the Data Center. When an OCR Region is placed on the template, the selected area turns purple. OMR Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. An OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) Region reads and records a respondent's answers based on the bubbles that the respondent has filled in from a selection of bubbles. In Remark Office OMR, when an OMR Region is placed on the template, the selected region turns green. See also "OMR Type" in this Glossary.
OMR Template Editor Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The OMR Template Editor is the location where the template can be edited in terms of the number and types of regions on the template and the regions' properties.
OMR Type Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The OMR Type option is seen in the region properties window of any OMR Region. This option provides the opportunity to select from among seven different OMR Types: multiple, grid, boolean, list, add, binary and rank. In Remark Classic OMR, there is no rank option.
Option Button Question Type Products: Remark Web Survey. Option button questions display all possible responses to the respondents, and the respondent is able to select one of these answers.
Page ID Products: Remark Office OMR. A page ID is an OMR, OCR or Barcode region which tells Remark Office OMR which page in the template the completed, scanned in page corresponds to. This allows for pages to be scanned in any order. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How do I create forms to use with Page IDs?"
Password List Builder Products: Remark Web Survey. The password list builder allows the user to specify the usernames and passwords that can be used to access the web form online. It also allows for a database connection to pull additional information in to the data viewer based on the password entered by the respondent and to make password set up easier. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Is there a way to 'generate' my passwords within Remark Web Survey?"
Popup Info Page Products: Remark Web Survey. A popup info page is a special page that provides the respondent with some form of information that is necessary for the respondent to receive but is not found on the current web form page. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "I want to take advantage of the Remark Web Survey Popup Info page in my next web form design. What do I need to know?"
Query Parameters Products: Remark Web Survey. Query parameters allow the user to embed data into a web form without requiring that the respondent inputs the data. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How can I take advantage of Query Parameters with my generic course evaluation?"
Question Mean Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This item analysis report displays the average answer for each question, along with the smallest and largest answers. This report is only found in Easy Survey and Survey Wizard.
Question Name Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. Question names can be entered for each question within an OMR region and are a shortened version of the question text, containing only one or two words. Question names are useful if you are exporting data to an existing file that requires specific field names and are used to identify columns in the data center, when present. In Remark Web Survey, this is known as the Field Name.
Question Table Products: Remark Web Survey. A question table is a way to present several multiple choice style questions that have the same possible answers. These questions are placed in a table, taking up less space on the page.
Question Text Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. Question text can be entered for each question in a region and is the full question that is being asked. The question text appears on the reports generated in Remark Quick Stats and is useful when exporting to some data formats.
Question Type Products: Remark Web Survey. The question type determines how respondents are presented with the answers to a question. There are four types of questions: textbox/text area, checkbox, option button and drop-down box. This is comparable to the OMR type or barcode type in Remark Office OMR and Remark Classic OMR.
Quick Stats Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The Quick Stats window is where different reports can be created and viewed once the data has been processed in the Data Center or Data Viewer. This window is opened by clicking either Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey or Survey Wizard in the Data Center.
Rank Region Products: Remark Office OMR. A rank region is a type of OMR region that allows for respondents to place different responses in a certain order and then reports the order the respondents selected. It also recognizes when multiple items have been assigned to the same category. Read Wizard Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The Read Wizard is the window that pops up when data is being read into the program. It walks through the process of entering data into the Data Center. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is the Read Wizard?"
Region Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A region tells the software where to look for information that is on a completed form. See also "Template Region" in this Glossary.
Report Batch Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. A report batch is two or more report types that have been prepared at the same time and can be viewed and saved together.
Report Batch Wizard Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The report batch wizard walks the user through the process of creating a batch report and choosing the desired settings.
Reset Button Products: Remark Web Survey. The reset button clears all the data that the respondent has entered on the current page.
Respondent Detection Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is used with database lookup to identify which potential respondents' answers have and have not been recorded. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "How do I use the Respondent Detection feature?"
Respondent ID Products: Remark Office OMR. A respondent ID is a OCR, OMR or Barcode region on each page that identifies the respondent that completed the form. This helps to keep respondents' answers from being mixed up when scanning multiple page forms. Respondent Tracker Products: Remark Office OMR. The respondent tracker helps to prevent respondents' answers from being mixed together when scanning forms with multiple pages. See also "Respondent ID" in this Glossary.
Response Report by Item Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that identifies each respondent with an identifying response, such as name or ID number. This report can be found through the Easy Grade, Grad Wizard, Easy Survey or Survey Wizard option.
Response Report by Respondent Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays every respondent's answer to a particular question. This report can be found through the Easy Grade, Grade Wizard, Easy Survey or Survey Wizard options.
Review Duplicates Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. This is an option found in the data center that has the software search for and identify data sets that have been entered multiple times. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Can I detect duplicate entries in my processed data (e.g., if a form is scanned twice)?"
Rich Text Formatting Products: Remark Web Survey. Rich text formatting is an option that is available when entering a question or label's text in the respective properties window. This option, when enabled, allows the text's font, size, color and other formatting options to be changed. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is RTF/Rich Text Format and how can I use it to customize my reports?"
Row Gap Products: Remark Classic OMR. The row gap adjusts the spacing between the horizontal rows of bubbles on the template. A larger number corresponds to a larger space, while a negative number indicates that the bubbles go in reverse.
Scaled Score Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey A scaled score converts a respondent's score on a test to a common scale that allows for a numeric comparison among respondents. A scaled score allows a database to translate a respondent's score on a test from a standard raw or percent score into another scale, as defined in the database being used. This feature is found in the Grade Wizard.
Sections Products: Remark Web Survey. Sections are the areas of the web form where elements are added. Sections must be created in order to add an element. They can be created with up to 20 columns.
Server Products: Remark Web Survey. A web server is a computer that is used to provide HTML files to a web browser. Once a web form has been created in the Designer component, the web form is published to the web server with the supplied server CGI scripts, which comprise the Server component. The Server component provides a control panel where you can set certain attributes on your web server, such as where to store web forms, as well as view, download or remove data.
Server Error Page Products: Remark Web Survey. A server error page is a special page that alerts the respondent when an error has occured while they were attempting to complete the survey. For example, the server error page would alert the respondent if the password that they had just entered was invalid. Server Mode Products: Remark Office OMR. Server mode allows Remark Office OMR to process forms and data while other programs are simultaneously running on the computer. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is Server Mode?"
Session Pause Button Products: Remark Web Survey. The session pause button allows the respondent to save their current progress in completing the survey or exam and return to finish it at a later time. See also "Session Pause Page" in this Glossary.
Session Pause Page Products: Remark Web Survey. A session pause page is a special page that appears if the respondent pauses their session. It allows the respondent to send themself an e-mail reminder to return to complete the survey or exam. In order to access the session pause page, it is necessary for a session pause button to be included in the web form. See also "Session Pause Button" in this Glossary
Side-By-Side Table Products: Remark Web Survey. A side-by-side table is a table that has one question column and two or more answer columns. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "I need to create Side-by-Side Tables in Remark Web Survey. What are my options and what are the best steps to follow?"
Simplex Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A simplex form is a form that has information only on one side of the form.
Special Pages Products: Remark Web Survey. Special pages are pages that appear after a specific signal occurs while the respondent is completing the survey or exam. There are six types of special pages: login, confirmation, web form complete, popup info, session pause and server error. See also each special page's entry in this Glossary.
Standard Pages Products: Remark Web Survey. Standard pages are where the questions and most information addressed to the respondents are placed. A survey or exam can be made of one or more standard pages. However, at least one standard page is required in the creation of a web form.
Standby Text Products: Remark Web Survey. Standby text is displayed while a picture or video is loading. It is also referred to as Alternate Text.
Start Column Products: Remark Classic OMR. The start column is a necessary input for the identification of the OMR region. It helps the software to identify the location of the OMR region by telling it in which verticle column to begin looking for information.
Start Row Products: Remark Classic OMR. The start row is a necessary input in the creation of a OMR region. It tells the software where to look for the OMR region by telling it the location of the first horizontal row.
Student Grade Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition. This is an individual student report that displays the respondent's answers to every question, highlighting any incorrect responses, and provides an image of the respondent's completed form (if available). This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard, as well as when clicking Run Reports in Remark Test Grading Edition.
Student Response Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays a matrix showing every respondents' answers to every question and whether their response was correct or incorrect. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard.
Student Statistics Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. This is a type of item analysis report that displays basic information regarding the respondents' performances on the test, including percentage correct, total number correct and letter grade. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard.
Style Sheet Products: Remark Web Survey. A style sheet is a set of formatting options, such as font color, size and background color, that can be saved and later applied to an entire web form. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What is a Remark Web Survey Style Sheet? How do I create and use them?"
Subjective Question Products: Remark Office OMR. A subjective question contains a point value assigned to a question, such as a short answer or essay question. The number of points earned by the respondent on these questions is recorded in this region and is processed by Quick Stats. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "What are subjective points?"
Submit/Next Button Products: Remark Web Survey. A submit/next button saves the respondent's data that was entered on the current page and presents the respondent with the next page in the survey or exam.
Survey Wizard Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The survey wizard is a window that opens up before the Quick Stats window, providing the option to change various properties before performing data analyses in the quick stats window. This includes the creation of analysis groups. This is used if the information from the completed forms is being collected, but not graded.
Sync With Database Products: Remark Web Survey. This updates the connection with the database that has already been established through database link and refreshes the information seen in the data viewer.
Task Pane Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey. The task pane is the region on the left side of a window that contains several links to navigate to different sections of the window.
Template Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. A template comtains the necessary information for the Remark software to read the completed forms. See also "Form Template" in this Glossary.
Template Editor Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR. The template editor window is where changes can be made to the template.
Template Regions Products: Remark Officce OMR, Remark Classic OMR. Template Regions tell the software where to locate the information on your specific form and how to understand your specific data requirements. There are four types of regions in Remark Office OMR: barcode, OMR, OCR and image. In Remark Classic OMR, there are three regions: OMR, barcode and input. Test Item Statistics Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition. This report displays information regarding the number of respondents who correctly and incorrectly answered each question. It also includes reliability information (point biserial and percent correct, or P Value). This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard, as well as when clicking Run Reports in Remark Test Grading Edition.
Test Statistics Report Products: Remark Office OMR, Remark Classic OMR, Remark Web Survey, Remark Test Grading Edition. This report provides various descriptive statistics, such as mean, range, standard deviation, Kuder-Richardson, etc. This report is only found through Easy Grade or Grade Wizard, as well as when clicking Run Reports in Remark Test Grading Edition.
Text Area Products: Remark Web Survey. A text area is a large space, occuping multiple lines, where a respondent can create their own response to a textbox/text area question. The larger size of the text area invites respondents to generate longer responses.
Textbox Products: Remark Web Survey. A textbox is a small area in which respondents can create their own response to a textbox/text area question. The small size of a textbox prompts respondents to create short responses.
Textbox/Text Area Question Type Products: Remark Web Survey. A textbox question provides a space for the respondents to create and enter their own answer.
Timing Marks Products: Remark Classic OMR. Timing marks are small, black marks placed along the edge of the form that signify the position of each row of data on the sheet and tell the scanner where to look to find this data.
Web Form Products: Remark Web Survey. A web form is the form that the respondent will see and complete online.
Web Form Complete Page Products: Remark Web Survey. A web form complete page is a special page that appears once the respondent has completed and submitted their form. This page is required for the creation of a web form. For more information, see the Knowledgebase article "Do I have to have a Form Complete Page?"
