| What is the FTP utility and how would I use it? | |||||||
An FTP utility is available in Remark Office OMR version 7 and above, that allows you to easily move exported files to a server or an external application using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). What is it? The FTP utility takes files generated in Remark Office OMR and moves them to a site via File Transfer Protocol. It permits you to have files uploaded to a designated FTP site, (or sites), from specific directories on your local computer or network. There is a configuration tool which can be used to maintain the files, directories and FTP sites to be used with the Remark FTP Utility. You can also control whether or not the Windows Service itself (the Remark FTP Utility) is started or stopped (e.g., running or not running), and whether it should start automatically (when Windows starts) or manually (e.g., fully controlled by you). Where do I find the Remark FTP Utility? In the Remark Office OMR Data Center use Tools / FTP Utility to access this feature. It allows you to setup a Windows service on your system. What can the Remark FTP Utility do? 1. The FTP utility permits you to have files uploaded to a designated FTP site (or sites), from specific directories on your local computer or network. 2. There is a configuration tool which can be used to maintain the files, directories and FTP sites to be used with the Remark FTP Utility. 3. When the service is running, the FTP Utility reads information about any FTP connections that have been set up using the configuration tool. The service will scan the directories (folders) you have specified (on your local computer or network), for the files you have specified in those directories (e.g., data, reports, etc). If the service encounters any new or changed files in any of the monitored directories, it will attempt to upload the files to the designated FTP server automatically. 4. You can also control whether or not the Windows Service itself (the Remark FTP Utility) is started or stopped (e.g., running or not running), and whether it should start automatically (when Windows starts) or manually (e.g., fully controlled by you).
This feature and directions for set up are covered in detail in the Remark Office OMR FTP Utility User's Guide.pdf file included with your installed software (Start / Programs / Remark Office OMR 7 / Documentation). |
