June 18, 2009, 2:00PM EDT/EST: Using Database Linking in Remark Office OMR
This webinar will teach you how to use Remark’s powerful Database Link feature to connect a question on your form to an external database. Using this feature, you can first validate that the processed data matches your database. Then you can take it a step further to lookup a value in the database and append other information from the database to your data set. For example, suppose you are processing exam answer sheets and the students’ ID numbers are on the sheet. You can connect the Student ID question to a database with all of your students’ information. When the forms are processed, the Student ID will be read off of the form, validated against the database and then you can choose other information about the student to append to your data. For No Child Left Behind reporting requirements, this may be information such as gender, ethnicity, gifted program involvement and/or participating in the reduced lunch program. By passing this information into your data via Database Linking, you can break down the Remark reports on any of these fields to ensure students are meeting adequate yearly progress (AYP) across all demographic groups.
This webinar will utilize Remark Office OMR 7, but much of the functionality is also available in version 6 as well as Remark Classic OMR 3 and Remark Web Survey 4. This topic is considered advanced and is suitable to anyone who needs to feed information into their processed data for more enhanced reporting purposes.

May 21, 2009, 2:00PM EDT/EST: Advanced Test Grading Features in Remark Quick Stats.
This webinar will target two advanced features for grading tests with Remark Quick Stats:
- Using Learning Objectives: If you are looking for ways to ensure Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), learning objectives can help. Learning objectives are utilized in the Remark Quick Stats Grade Wizard and provide a way to assess student progress based on specific objectives, such as state standards. If you are doing benchmark testing and want to see how students are grasping the material, you can test against the specific objectives and Remark will provide you with overall grades as well as progress against those standards.
- Using Multiple Answer Keys: Do you administer multiple versions of the same test to your students? Did you know the Remark Quick Stats Grade Wizard provides the ability to use more than one answer key for the same test? We will demonstrate how to process multiple answer keys to grade a single test.
This webinar will utilize Remark Office OMR 7, but much of the functionality is also available in version 6 as well as Remark Classic OMR 3 and Remark Web Survey 4 This webinar is targeted to users who require more advanced grading features.

Tom Hays' Corner: Scanning assessments with Remark Office OMR to demonstrate that students in Title I schools are improving in mathematics.
Summary: The mathematics trimester assessments and the accompanying reports were able to fulfill the requirement of determining student improvement and providing the documentation required by the Title I grant. Because of the improved method of electronic data collection and reporting, the task of providing documentation was moved from a time consuming manual process to an efficient electronic process. The electronic process provided additional benefits of available reports rapidly given to classroom teachers. These reports were more than just as a measure of student achievement; they also were used as an instructional tool to identify areas that warranted additional instruction to the class as well as individual students. Remark Office OMR was the software program that enabled this process to become an electronic reality. This change from a manual process that only provided data to fulfill the Title I grant requirements to an electronic process that impacted classroom instruction was truly a remarkable addition to the Title I schools. This success provided the impetus to move to more ambitious projects in the area of mathematics instruction and student achievement.
