Thank you for using Remark Office OMR 6. The Remark Office OMR 6.0.4 update adds some new enhancements and corrects a few minor flaws since the original 6.0 release. To install the update, double click the Roo604up.exe file to launch the update and then follow the on-screen instructions. ------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS The minimum system requirements have been updated to the following (as of the 6.0.2 release). ** Please note that Windows 98 is no longer supported. This operating system is being phased out by Microsoft. For more information, go to www.microsoft.com. • Personal computer with a 1 GHz or faster processor • Microsoft Windows 2000, XP or Server 2003 • 512 MB RAM o Important Note: Analysis reports require memory to run. Lengthy or graphic-intensive reports may take longer to run; you may need additional memory to run these reports. • 250 MB free hard disk space to install software • 1 GB free hard disk space recommended to use software • Screen/monitor resolution of 1024x768 or higher and at least 16-bit color (32-bit color recommended) • Mouse • CD-ROM drive (for installation purposes) • Supported scanner (recommended) • Windows-supported printer (optional) ------------------------------------------------------------- The following enhancements were made: ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3342. PRINTING IMAGE VIEWER CONTENTS The ability to print the image has been added to the Data Center (via a button above the image viewer) and to the Template Editor (via a Print Image menu item). In both cases, the image is printed in the best orientation to fit the printer's paper size, and the image is scaled to fit the page. Before the image is printed, you are presented with a dialog to allow you to choose a printer or cancel the print operation. * Note: Only the active page will be printed (even if the image is part of a multiple page image file). ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3644. ENHANCED RECOGNITION OF OMR REGIONS AND BARCODES Enhancements were made to better recognize barcodes that are degraded, such as from respondents writing in the barcode area. Our general recognition algorithms were also updated. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q1000. VISTA SUPPORT A Vista compliant Help file is now distributed with Remark Office OMR 6.0.4, making the software Vista compliant. Remember to check your scanner manufacturer's web site for Vista compliant scanner drivers. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4138. ODBC DATABASE UPDATE ADDED The ability to update an existing ODBC database was added. It allows you to update data in an existing database when you save the data. This functionality existed previously for only Access and Excel databases. You may now use the database update feature with ODBC compliant databases. You can find this new format in the Save as type drop-down list in the Save Data window. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following fixes were made: ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3573. ERROR 9000 WHEN ENTERING COLUMNS AND ROWS IN TEMPLATE EDITOR An error 9000 was corrected When a five digit or greater number was entered into either the number of columns or the number of rows for an OMR region in the Remark Office OMR Template Editor. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3594. TASK PANE DOESN'T UNLOCK WHEN SERVER MODE ENDS A problem was corrected where the task pane did not unlock (become enabled) when Server Mode was ended. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3604. SERVER MODE FAILS TO SCAN A problem was corrected where Server Mode would not initiate scanning for particular scanners. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3628. CAN'T SCAN ANSWER KEYS WHEN USING BATCHES A problem was corrected with transferring the answer key to the Grade Wizard when scanning with batches. The problem only occurred when using the Grade Wizard to scan the answer key. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3629. GRID EXPANSION WHEN PASTING ROWS The data grid in the Data Center will now expand properly when pasting extra grid rows at the bottom of the grid. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3655. ANSWER KEY IDENIFIER NOT STORED IN FORM TEMPLATE A problem was corrected where regions marked as Key Identifiers (for multiple answer key test grading) were not holding the key identifier setting in the form template. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3699. SAVING HEADERS USING THE AUTOMATION WIZARD A problem was corrected when saving to the ASCII file format via the Automation Wizard where row headers were not being saved. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3725. FUJITSU SCANNERS AND A4 PAPER SIZE An input error was corrected that occurred When using a Fujitsu scanner with the TWAIN Interface turned on. The error occured when trying to create an A4 size template. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3764. LEGACY TWAIN OPTION NOT AVAILABLE IN TEMPLATE EDITOR A problem was corrected where the legacy TWAIN option would not stay on when using the Template Editor. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3787. ERROR 20476 WHEN SELECTING FORM TEMPLATES An Error 20476 was corrected when selecting multiple form templates to open in the Data Center. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3920. USING AUTO FORM ID WITHOUT RESPONDENT IDS A problem was corrected when reviewing unrecognized images after reading forms using Auto Form ID mode. Previously Remark Office OMR would place the data into the row corresponding with the next free row of the data grid that had the focus. If the data grid that had the focus had fewer rows than the data grid the data was being read into, the software would overwrite that row of data in the correct data grid that corresponds to the free row in the data grid that had the focus when the review was started. This problem only occurred when Respondent IDs were not being used. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3950. LEADING ZEROS TRUNCATED IN AUTO INCREMENT REGION A problem was corrected that occurred When using an Image region set to data entry and auto increment. If the number used in the default fill contained leading zeros, the zeros would not show up during scanning. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q3963. ERROR 2147417848 WHEN SAVING RESPONSE SCALES An Error 2147417848 was corrected that occurred when trying to save response scales that were added via the Tools menu in the Template Editor. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4077. DISPLAY VALUE BAR IN CONDENSED ITEM ANALYsIS A problem was corrected whereby when the value bar chart was turned off for the Condensed Item Analysis, it would still be displayed in the report. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4105. USING REGION DATA AS IMAGE BASE NAME WITH AUTO FORM ID A problem was corrected whereby if you were using Auto Form ID and chose a region from the template for the image base name, it only used the region data for the active template. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4131. READ WIZARD AND ADVANCED IMAGE RECOGNITION A problem was corrected where the Invert Images setting under Advanced Image Recognition Properties in the Read Wizard was not properly saved. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4131. ERROR 424 WHEN REVIEWING UNRECOGNIZED IMAGES An Error 424 was corrected when reviewing unrecognized images for multiple page form templates that do not contain page identifiers. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4186. RESPONSES DELETED WHEN TYPING IN REVIEW EXCEPTIONS A problem was corrected where responses were not properly transferred to the data grid when they were typed in the Review Exceptions pane. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q4215. ERROR 9000 USING AUTO ALIGN WITH MULTIPLE PAGE TEMPLATEs An Error 9000 was corrected when using the Auto Align feature with a template that has more than one page.
