Thank you for using Remark Office OMR 8. The Remark Office OMR 8.4 update adds some new enhancements and corrects a few minor flaws since the original 8.0 release. To install the update, double click the Roo84up.exe file to launch the update and then follow the on-screen instructions. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following enhancements were made in version 8.4: ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6479. IMPROVED PDF SUPPORT PDF support was overhauled to avoid problems that occurred whereby sometimes PDFs would be read as white images or produce an error 2001 when read in the Template Editor or Read Wizard. PDFs should also read faster than in previous versions. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6945. IMPROVED STUDENT GRADE REPORT PERFORMANCE The 301 - Student Grade report was updated to be able to include more student records during report generation. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7195. NEW OCR OPTION A new OCR option, called Primary, was added when reading optical character information. It is more accurate than the previous OCR engine. You will still find the previous OCR engine listed as Legacy when setting up OCR regions in a form template. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7239. IMPROVED STUDENT RESPONSE REPORT The Student Response was updated to be able to include more students during report generation. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7264. ALLOW ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS FOR NUMERIC OMR REGIONS When setting up a numeric Grid region in a template, you may now use the +,- and . symbols. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7272. IMPROVED ABILITY TO CONNECT TO DATABASES FOR DATABASE LOOKUP Two changes were made: 1) When opening a template and validating the database connections, a Cancel option has been added to the initial database connection failure prompt. If Cancel is selected, the template is closed. 2) A Database Connection option has been added to the Edit menu. It will only be enabled when the active column in the grid uses database verification. When clicked, it will bring up the Database Connection dialog and allow you to select a different database. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7279. IMPROVED CONNECTIONS TO DATABASE FOR LARGE NUMBER OF DATABASE LOOKUP REGIONS We changed the way we connect to a database when validating database lookup regions to allow better/faster lookups when a form has a large number of database lookup regions. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7288. SAVING RESULTS AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES When exporting results from Remark Quick Stats you may now include the Analysis Respondent ID by going to Tools|Preferences. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7303 ADJUST KR20 CALCULATION A new preference under Test Statistics has been added to Remark Quick Stats so that you can choose whether to use N or N-1 in the denominator of the variance calculation when grading. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7304 SELECT ENTIRE DATA GRID AND AUTO EXPAND If you click in the cell in the upper-left corner of the data grid to select the entire grid, it will then allow you to double-click the column separators to auto-size every column to its contents and drag the column separators to make every column the same size. The following fixes were made: ------------------------------------------------------------- Q5782. IMPORTING TEXT ANSWER KEYS WITH MULTIPLE ANSWERS A problem was fixed whereby When you import a text answer key into the Grade wizard where a question is set to have multiple answers that must be selected for it to be correct and the answers are listed in an order different then the order in the question properties, that question was marked as wrong in the reports. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7210. ERROR 9000 READING WITH ID REGIONS NOT SET TO READ A problem was fixed where if a template contains one or more ID regions (form, page or respondent tracker) that are set to not read, an Error 9000 may occur. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7234. USE DEFAULT DIRECTIONS IN AUTOMATION WIZARD NOT STAYING SET A problem was fixed whereby When you turned on the checkbox for Use Default Directories when Saving in the Automation Wizard, it was not staying on after you save and close the REZ file. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7236. ERROR 9000 DISPLAYING IMAGES IN IMAGE VIEWER A problem was fixed where if a grade scale used decimal values and the system on which the grade operation was being run uses commas as decimal separators, then the grades being calculated may be incorrect. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7271. TROUBLE RELINKING IMAGES VIA IMAGE SEARCH DIRECTORY A problem was fixed when searching for stored images the directory specified in the Preferences wasn't always being used. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7265.
