Thank you for using Remark Web Survey 5. The Remark Web Survey 5.2 update adds some new enhancements and corrects a few minor flaws since the original 5.0 release. To install the update, double click the Rws52up.exe file to launch the update and then follow the on-screen instructions. Please see the Remark Web Survey 5 User's Guide Addendum under Start|Programs|Remark Web Survey 5|Documentation for important upgrade information if you are updating from version 5.0 and 5.1. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following enhancements and fixes were made in version 5.2: ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6181.PLACE COPY OF WEB FORM ON SERVER When publishing web forms the last saved copy of the web form (RWSX file) will be published to the web server. This file is not used during survey operations but provides you with a backup copy of the form in case something happens to the local copy. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6339. RESTRICTED MEMORY ERROR ANALYZING DATA A "restricted memory error" was fixed when passing down data to Remark Quick Stats using a web form that utilizes database linking without including the source field in the data set. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6446. SOFTWARE FREEZES WHEN CONVERTING MULTIPLE WEB FORMS A problem was fixed where on certain systems, the software would freeze when converting multiple Remark Web Survey version 3 files in a row. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6452. DOUBLE TYPE IS NOT VALID ERROR WITH ODBC A "Double type is not valid" error was corrected when linking the password question on a login page to an ODBC SQL Server database. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6454 INVALID UID ERROR USING BACK BUTTON ON LOGIN PAGE An "Invalid UID" error was corrected that would occur when the back button was clicked on a Login page failed attempt. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6455. INCORRECT USERNAME/PASSWORD ERROR OCCURS UPON FAILED LOGIN If an incorrect username AND password are entered on the login page, the message stating that the credentials are incorrect now properly comes up immediately instead of when the first page is submitted. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6455. UNABLE TO FIND VERSION OF .NET FRAMEWORK ERROR A problem was corrected whereby on certain operating systems an "unable to find a version of the .NET framework" error message would appear upon software startup. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6462. UNABLE TO FIND REPORTS A problem was corrected whereby in very rare instances the software would not point to the correct reports directory when first running Remark Quick Stats. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6463. UPDATED ADVANCED HYPERLINK BUILDER FOR IMAGES A problem was addressed where advanced hyperlinks were not holding their answer pipes when applied to an image. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6468 FIXED BROWSER COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH USER LOGINS A problem was fixed where in certain browsers, the user restrictions set up in the Control Panel would not stay in place. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6509 SETTING MAX LENGTH FOR TEXTBOX PREVENTS FORM FROM PUBLISHING A problem was fixed where in certain cases the max length setting on a text box would cause form publishing errors. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6567 FIELDS CALLED DATE ARE NO LONGER RENAMED If a field was titled Date it would be called Date1 when data was collected because Remark Web Survey also tracks the submission date. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6710 EXCLAMATION POINT CAUSES PROBLEMS IN CONTROL PANEL The exclamation point was allowed as a password to access the Control Panel but would cause logins to fail. Exclamation points can now be successfully used for control panel logins. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6760 PASSWORDS APPEAR TRUNCATED IN PASSWORD LIST BUILDER A problem was fixed where passwords appeared to be truncated once you got higher than 99999 passwords. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6793 BETTER iPHONE/iPAD SUPPORT A property was added to allow the published web page to better handle sizing on devices such as the iPad and iPhone. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6846 PASSWORDS SPLIT INTO SEPARATE FILES FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE For large password sets, the passwords are now split into separate files on the web server, which increases performance for the respondent. Please see the Remark Web Survey 5 User's Guide for more information. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6843 AUTO DISABLE SUBMIT BUTTON The submit button is now automatically disabled when clicked to prevent respondents from accidentally clicking it twice. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6851 LONGER EMAIL DOMAIN NAMES ALLOWED Support was added for longer domain names in email addresses. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6912 SUPPORT FOR OFFICE 2010, SQL SERVER and ORACLE Access and Excel 2010 are now available when saving data, using Database Linking, populating password lists and exporting respondent detection data. Native Oracle and SQL Server are available when saving data and exporting respondent detection data. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6927 CONNECTION STAYS ACTIVE DURING LONG FORM PUBLISHING Extra conditions were added to ensure the connection to the web server stays active when large forms are published. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q6973 TIME OUT ERROR PUBLISHING FORMS A problem was introduced in Perl 5.12 that caused a time out error when publishing Remark Web Survey forms. The scripts have been updated so that this error does not occur when using Perl 5.12. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7088 SCRIPTING ERROR WHEN PRINTING WEB FORMS A scripting error was corrected when printing web forms from the Remark Web Survey designer. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7119 AUTOMATIC CHECK FOR UPDATES A new feature was added to check for software updates automatically. You can turn on the feature in the Web Survey Options under Resources. Or you can manually check for an update by clicking the Help icon in the upper right hand corner of the software. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7168 REPORT PROPERTIES NOT ACCESSIBLE A problem was corrected whereby on certain systems the report properties were visible but not changeable. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7170 NEW REPORTING FEATURES A new version of Remark Quick Stats was added to the software. This version provides new reports, added ability to modify parts of existing reports and a screen capture utility. Please see the Remark Quick Stats User's Guide.pdf for more detailed information. ------------------------------------------------------------- Q7184 SERVER TIMEOUT ERROR ON INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS A problem was corrected where in certain cases when downloading incomplete submissions the server would return a timeout error.
