One of the great values of using Shadowbase is to provide a framework for zero down time migrations. We see many of our customers migrating from S series HP NonStop servers to H series. As the vast majority of our customers operate in a 24/7 environment, they can not allow their primary applications to be taken “off line” for these efforts. This same requirement is found in migrations from other platforms to the HP NonStop servers as well as from HP NonStop servers to other platforms.

A major initiative is underway at our client AOL to migrate the user authorization database for AIM and ICQ users from 40 plus Solaris servers using Sybase to four H series HP NonStop servers. This is a major win for both HP and Shadowbase and we expect the migration to be completed by the middle of this year. Once the migration is complete, Shadowbase will provide an active/active replication environment for the four NS16000 systems.

Another new customer, Verizon Business, is migrating their pre-paid wireless card application from a HP NonStop server to an Oracle database running on a Linux server. Again, Shadowbase will be used to provide the data replication infrastructure. We obviously don’t like to see people move off the NonStop platform but realize that these instances happen.

An interesting and innovative use of Shadowbase is Gallagher Basset’s new web services initiative. Gallagher Basset is using Shadowbase to feed selected data from their healthcare claims processing system running on a HP NonStop server to a .Net web services application running on a Windows server. The .Net application formats the data into an XML document (WSDL) that ships real time information to clients regarding new claims as well as payments and changes to an existing claim. This real time service is much better than their former batch reporting approach. The next phase will allow clients to inquire on the status of a claim.

We continue to see within our customer base the Shadowbase replication product acting as a truly extensible solution. New and innovative uses of real time replication are constantly being made and we look forward to sharing these activities with customers and prospective customers at the HP Technology Forum in Las Vegas, Nevada in June, the Community Connect Europe 2008 conference in Mannheim, Germany in November as well as other Regional User Group Meetings.

Sincerely,
